Eric Carle is author and illustrator of more than seventy books for children, many of m sellers. Born in Syracuse, New York, he moved to Germany with his parents when he was six years old. He studied at Academy of Graphic Arts in Stuttgart before returning to United States, where he worked as a graphic designer for New York Times and later as art director for an international advertising agency. His first two books, 1,2,3 to Zoo and Very Hungry Caterpillar, gained him immediate international recognition. latter title, now considered a modern classic, has sold more than 30 million copies and has been translated into forty-eight languages. Eric Carle and his wife, Barbara, divide ir time between mountains of North Carolina and Florida Keys.

A caterpillar hatches out of his egg and is very hungry. On his first day, he eats through one piece of food; on his second, two, and so on. Little holes cut in pages allow toddlers to wiggle ir fingers through food, just like caterpillar. In light of moon a little egg lay on a leaf. One Sunday morning warm sun came up and-pop!-out of egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. He started to look for some food.
